Three Men Talking About Things They Kinda Know About is a lyrical, personal interwoven poetic narrative, by Colm Keegan, Kalle Ryan and Stephen James Smith, where they take the audience on a cathartic, emotional journey into the heart of who they are. Digging into subjects that men may not traditionally talk about like love, relationships, loss, family and self doubt, they explore what it really means to be a man.

Widely recognised as a groundbreaking and influential spoken word show, it was first performed at The International Bar, Dublin on September 19th 2011 as part of the Dublin Fringe, where it was nominated for the Little Gem award. In 2012 it was restaged in the Project Arts Centre at Turnaround, a specially curated season of Fringe favourites. From 2013 to 2014 it toured around Ireland, with sold-out one night engagements in London, Bristol and Paris.

  1. Three Men Talking was groundbreaking when it came out. Now you have a lot of spoken word shows in the Fringe and other festivals. But this was fresh and new when it was on. It still packs a bigger punch than most of the things you see these days and its great to have it published at last. I have a signed copy from the event they did in Axis and I treasure it. Fair play lads.

  2. I have seen all three of these performers and they all have a very different style. All good but totally different. The book is the same. It is three different stories in the style of a poem that tell their personal journeys. It is powerful storytelling and I was blown away. I also like the book because it opened my eyes to a bit of the backstory of the way it was created. Really happy I picked it up.

  3. I was looking for a unique gift for my brother who is a literature fan. This book was mentioned to me on social media and I was intrigued by the title first of all. As I learned more I thought this was a great choice. Fresh writing from Ireland, which has a long history of excellent literature, seemed like the perfect thing. I am happy to say the purchase was well worth it and my brother raved about it. Highly recommended

  4. This is a truly moving and beautifully written book of poems. Each voice is unique and raw, with lyricism on every page. The book itself is fantastic with great contextual essays and fascinating archival photos. A document of a special moment in Irish spoken word. Love it
